Tata Consultancy Services, India's largest software
business, has developed the Youth Employment Program (YEP) to assist victims of
the Covid-19 outbreak in rebuilding their lives and providing job
opportunities. It is the company's main CSR programme, aimed at empowering
youth, women from rural colleges, and unemployed graduates, particularly from
socially and economically disadvantaged areas.
TCS has added courses in Quantitative Aptitude, Business
Communication Skills, Programming, and Domain Skills as part of this
curriculum.

So far, TCS has received 1,384 nominations, which are being
supported in their learning and career journey by 700+ TCS associates.
Maharashtra, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh,
and Karnataka account for more than 80% of the candidates.
"TCS received over 1,300 nominations, with over 85
percent of them coming from employees' friends or relatives," the business
said.
TCS claims that its Youth Program has benefited over 4,900
direct students, while the non-IT Youth Employment programme has trained 9,200
students and 56 external trainers and professionals.
Since its foundation, it claims to have trained 1,24,000
young people. To date, 24,800 people have found work in both private and public
companies, including 13,800 at TCS.
TCS also offers a free online training for young
professionals called "TCS iON Career Edge." It's a 15-day programme
designed to help job seekers enhance their key employability abilities.
In accounting and artificial intelligence, the course
addresses fundamental behavioural, communication, and basic abilities. The
training is broken down into 14 parts. Each session is 1-2 hours long and
includes videos, presentations, reading material, and recordings of TCS
experts' webinars.
